Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I start training?
Answer: Call the instructor Paul on 0151-281-2188 to book your first session - first lesson is free, but come to train - we do not allow people to come and watch the class, it can be off-putting for the people who are training.
Q: What are the fees, do I have to pay a direct debit?
Answer: You do NOT have to pay a direct debit, you will NOT sign any contract - Classes are £5.00 for 2 hours of training - If you pay for 2 sessions at on the Monday then the weekly fee is £8.00 (£4.00 per class classes). If you stay with us, then there is a one off £15 membership & insurance fee.
Q: Do I need special equipment?
Answer: No not at first, although eventually will need to start buying your own personal training equipment, many people who do train will want to have their own equipment anyway for personal training.
Q: Do I have to grade?
Answer: No, we do not hold ‘official’ pressured gradings where all your training is forgotten in one terror stricken moment– you will be assessed for free before moving onto the next syllabus, this will be done like a grading but without the added pressure to ‘perform’ - We do not charge you for grading, we think that this comes as a right for training consistently with us.
Q: Do you teach children?
Answer: At the moment we teach people from 17 years and older - in the future there will be 'bully-proofing' course ran at the academy. Due to the nature of what we train in some elements of the adult class are unsuitable.
Q: How fit do I have to be, how much fitness training is there ?
Answer: You do not have to be fit to start with us, after all you have to start somewhere ! We do not have a 25 minute fitness routine that you will have to endure before you start the actual Martial Arts work - the class will get you fit alone, ask anyone when you come along. On occasion there will be a circuit session that lasts 20 minutes or so, but these sessions are practical and not just press ups for the sake of it
Q: Is training suitable for women?
Answer: Yes. Many martial arts schools are very male environments - we are not a neanderthal gym !. Women can feel very uncomfortable just turning up, but please do not be put off - we do have ladies at our classes. We welcome and encourages female participation.
