Welcome to Liverpool Wing Chun Eskrima Academy
Liverpool Wing Chun / Escrima Academy has over 19 years experience in the martial arts and self defence field. Our focus is to provide street real - ego free training to people in a safe environment. The academy is located in Allerton, South Liverpool. We moved away from some bigger organised self defence groups to be more customer related (and less money minded !). We believe in a positive training environment – Hard work, no hang up’s, no bullies. Train to enjoy the arts, not to endure.
What we Teach
Wing Chun is a kung fu style AKA 'chinese street fighting', Escrima is a Filipino art that focuses on weapons defence (knife and stick mainly) and Panantukan boxing. Our aim is to provide people (regardless of experience) with a comprehensive system of self defence that exercises the mind as well as the body.
The instructor and junior coaches ensure all who train progress according to their full potential, no-one is rushed, or held back – everyone is encouraged to have a ‘give it a go’ attitude. Training Sessions are structured to be challenging but enjoyable. The teaching syllabus is specifically designed to meet today's thug culture, all the drills are reality based but everything is practised under complete supervision. There are not may 'solo' drills so everything is tested against a person, nothing is left to the imagination.
Method
We use many training methods to facilitate your skills and make the classes more alive - pad-work, chi sau (sticking hands), hubud higot (Filipino sensitvity drills), stick-work (single & double), knife-work, stick & knife, staff-work, choking, locking and close range rapid fire trapping...... all the skills needed to be effective in an altercation. All drills are tried and tested and passed on from many years of training by the masters of the arts. Your first free class, leave the ego at home - its not needed – we’re here for people who need self defence.
Location and Training Times
Training times are at the Bridge Chapel Centre 7. 00 till 9.00 on Mondays
